Why I Started Travelling And Why I Never Stopped

Hi, my name is Angel, and I'd love to tell you a little about my journey.

First of all... what a journey it has been! The past year has flown by like no other.

The way I've travelled over the past year has been so much more than I ever imagined. Although I expected to visit many more countries by now, I've realised that it's not about how many places you see - it's about how you experience them.

Travelling with the moment, following my heart and trusting God has been one of the most beautiful ways I've ever travelled.

I started my journey in Bali, Indonesia, a place I had already visited before and fell in love with the moment I first stepped onto the island.

I know what some of you are thinking—Canggu, Uluwatu... and yes, they're amazing. But no, that's not where my story ends.

I also spent time in small local villages, slowing down and truly experiencing the culture. For me, that's what travel is really about: understanding the people who call these places home.

One of the villages I stayed in was about 30 minutes from Ubud by scooter. I stayed in a lovely little Balinese house with an incredibly kind local family who made me feel completely at home.

During my stay, they invited me to visit a local temple to take part in a traditional Melukat ceremony, a Balinese water purification ritual that symbolises cleansing the mind, body and spirit.

Dressed in traditional clothing, we stepped into the sacred water and slowly made our way from one fountain to the next. At each fountain, I washed my face and body three times, drank the holy water three times, and took a moment to quietly express my gratitude before moving on. Each step carried its own meaning, reminding me to let go of what no longer served me and to welcome new beginnings with an open heart.

Whether you believe in the spiritual meaning behind the ritual or simply appreciate it as a beautiful cultural tradition, it was an incredibly peaceful and moving experience. Standing there, surrounded by nature, listening to the flowing water and sharing that moment with such kind people, is something I'll never forget.

It wasn't just the ceremony itself that made it so special—it was the warmth, generosity and genuine love of the family who welcomed me into their culture and made me feel like I truly belonged.

Driving around Ubud quickly became one of my favourite things to do. Everywhere I looked there were stunning views, rice fields, waterfalls, local markets, hidden cafés and incredible coffee spots. Even riding my scooter through the countryside gave me an incredible feeling of freedom.

Speaking of freedom...

The ocean around Bali is simply magical.

When I stayed on the Gili Islands, my days became beautifully simple. I'd wake up, go snorkeling, have breakfast and coffee, work for a few hours, then head back into the ocean before repeating it all over again.

For two weeks straight.

It was the perfect balance between productivity, relaxation and pure happiness.

And then there's the food...

Honestly, the food deserves a chapter of its own.

I absolutely loved it.

I'm not particularly picky about where I eat. I'll happily sit down at a small local warung or enjoy a beautiful restaurant. Although, if I'm honest, I usually prefer the local places. In my experience, the best food is almost always where the locals eat.

One of the best meals I had was completely unexpected: a simple chicken leg served with rice and vegetables at a tiny local restaurant with a friend I had met there.

Oh my... that chicken was incredible.

I ate everything with my hands and honestly licked every single finger afterwards. That's how good it was.

But that's enough about the food - for now.

I could write for hours about Bali alone.

This past year has been filled with unforgettable experiences, incredible people, delicious food, new ideas and memories I'll cherish forever.

My journey took me through Vietnam, Thailand, Laos, Singapore, Indonesia, back home for christmas, then to Argentina, followed by an unexpected trip back home, and later to Panama and Costa Rica.

For now, I'm home again.

I'm taking some time to enjoy being with family, building my business and preparing for the next adventure.

Because if there's one thing I've learned...

Home is wonderful.

But sooner or later, the road always calls me back.

And honestly...

I can't wait to see where it takes me next.
